Casale Bellaluce is a characterful former farmhouse estate with an exceptionally long history, carefully restored and converted into three apartments, complemented by a separate cottage. The renovation was carried out with great sensitivity, preserving many original features and maintaining the authentic character of the buildings. At one stage in its history, the main house served as a Benedictine monastery, reflected in the adjoining 13th-century chapel, which is still consecrated today. The chapel features beautiful 16th-century frescoes and hosts an annual service at the end of July as part of a local religious celebration. The site’s origins date back to around the year 1000, while the discovery of a Roman cistern during renovation works confirms even earlier settlement. Today, Casale Bellaluce offers a peaceful stay surrounded by the rolling Umbrian countryside, with a fully fenced shared pool providing welcome refreshment during the summer months.
The restaurant Jovez, serving authentic regional cuisine, is just a five-minute walk away. Everyday amenities can be found in the nearby village of Lubriano, including a grocery shop, butcher, baker, greengrocer and several restaurants. A wider selection of shops, restaurants and a supermarket is available in Bagnoregio, around ten minutes by car. Approximately nine kilometres away lies Civita di Bagnoregio, the famous “dying village”, accessible only via a pedestrian bridge and considered one of Italy’s most beautiful villages. The medieval city of Orvieto, with highlights such as the Duomo and the Fortezza Albornoz, is about 30 minutes away, as is the scenic Lago di Bolsena, renowned for its natural beauty and gentle tourism.
