Pinturicchio at Pretaccione

Castelnuovo Berardenga - Siena and Chianti

4 2 2 Shared Pool
Pretaccione is a small and atmospheric hamlet set in the heart of the Chianti Classico. Its name recalls the rural priests who lived here in the Middle Ages. Today, the hamlet is a harmonious collection of carefully restored, individually owned cottages and apartments. Each has its own furnished outdoor space, ideal for relaxed al fresco meals, a glass of Chianti at sunset, or simply unwinding in peaceful surroundings. A lovely shared  pool offers welcome refreshment on warm summer days, while the on-site tennis court provides an extra option for those who enjoy staying active. Pretaccione combines privacy, tranquillity and authentic Tuscan character in a very appealing way.

Its location is ideal for exploring the region. San Sano is just five minutes away by car with a traditional restaurant and small grocery shop, while Lecchi can be reached in around ten minutes and Gaiole in about fifteen, offering restaurants, shops and a supermarket. Radda is also close by. Walking enthusiasts will appreciate the Dievole Natural Path, which starts right on the doorstep and offers kilometres of marked woodland trails. Siena is only 20 minutes away, and Arezzo, San Gimignano and Florence are all easily reached for day trips.

We stayed at Pinturicchio while there was a heatwave - thank goodness for the swimming pool!!! The accommodation was perfectly adequate - the old stone building stayed relatively cool. Unfortunately, due to the number of mosquitos we were not able to leave any doors or windows open and it also curtailed us from being able to sit outside especially in the evenings, despite using repellent, plug in repellents and citronella candles. It was lovely seeing all the swallows, but an outdoor broom would have been useful to try and sweep away the bird poop & keep the courtyard a bit nicer!!! The kitchen was well stocked with equipment and utensils and the lounge comfortable. The setting for Pinturicchio was beautiful - but definitely remote - we found some nice walks but were expecting there to be a bit more local information available and thought it would have been easier to cycle / walk from the property. However, due to the heat, we were happy to utilise the swimming pool for exercise!!! We really enjoyed San Gimignano and the day we hired Ebikes to tour the countryside and Castello di Brolio Favourite restaurant was Castello Di Tornano - beautiful setting and fabulous food and wine.
